EPL: Owen makes honest verdict on Ronaldo’s penalty call, Rashford’s goal miss in Man Utd’s 0-0 draw

Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has said that the referee was right to have ignored Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty call in Manchester United’s 0-0 Premie4 League draw against Newcastle on Sunday

Manchester United could not find back of the net against Newcastle United in their Premier League on Sunday and Ronaldo thought he had been brought down in the box in the early minutes of the second half.

The referee did not pay attention to the Portuguese penalty shout VAR agreed with the centre referee.

Speaking on BT Sport, Owen, a former Manchester United player, said “I don’t think that was a penalty. There was nothing on that one.

On Marcus Rashford’s missed chance, Owen added, “This is a golden chance. A brilliant ball from Casemiro but the only thing is spinning on the cross. The Spin was against him and that’s the only thing.”
