EPL: Rio Ferdinand faults nomination of Arsenal star for Player of the Season award ahead of Ronado

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has questioned the inclusion of Bukayo Saka in the shortlisted players for this season’s Premier League Player of the Year award.

The former England defender thinks Saka should not be on the shortlist even though the winger contributed immensely to the Gunners push for top four finish this season.

Saka made the recently released shortlist for the award alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrod Bowen, Joao Cancelo, Mohamed Salah, Heung-min Son and James Ward-Prowse.

“I wouldn’t have had Saka in there yet, as well as he’s done,” Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.

“I wouldn’t have had him over [Cristiano] Ronaldo, no, not this season.

“Ronaldo should be ahead of three or four of those guys in there.”
