Former West Ham United star, Dean Ashton has described Southampton goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu as a ‘Spiderman’ following his performance against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The former Manchester City youngster kept Bruno Fernandes’ effort out from point-blank range and the Portuguese made another effort that was blocked by Kyle Walker-Peters, before Christian Eriksen forced the Southampton defence into action for a third time, only to be blocked by Armel Bella-Kotchap.
The defensive play by the Saints earned them a standing ovation from the home fans at St Mary’s Stadium.
And speaking on talkSPORT Ashton compared Bazunu to a member of the Marvel franchise.
He said, “Gavin ‘Spiderman’ Bazunu’, incredible, he blocks one, two, Eriksen should score.
“When it comes back to him he just needs to pick a spot.
“It’s just brilliant all round defensively there, throwing bodies in the way.”
Eventually, Fernandes struck home a fine goal from a Diogo Dalot cross in the second half to give the Red Devils a second win in a row.
