Chelsea legend, Pat Nevin, has given Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, credit for getting rid of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Nevin said ten Hag has done a good job as Man United recently terminated Ronaldo’s contract last November.
According to him, Manchester United are now flourishing under ten Hag following Ronaldo’s departure.
Recall that Manchester United terminated Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent.
The Portugal captain, who has since joined Al-Nassr, had a massive fallout with ten Hag and Manchester United earlier this season.
“Ten Hag’s done a good job. He had to get rid of Ronaldo. I got hammered for saying it. I was saying, ‘I know he’s your top scorer, and I know he was one of the best in the world, but what he does to the team is not good,’” Nevin told the Irish Post.
“The fact that he could not cope with the fact that the club is bigger than him, it should have happened before, but it did happen. You look at United now, and they are flourishing under ten Hag. They are on the cusp of building something big, and who knows, and Manchester United has a chance to be where they should be,” he stated.
