EPL: Ten Hag takes final decision on first player to leave club in January

Manchester United have triggered a break clause, which has cut short Sergio Reguilon’s season-long loan from Tottenham, The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in September, following injuries to several key United players, including first-choice left-back Luke Shaw.

However, manager Erik ten Hag has decided that he won’t need Reguilon for the remainder of the campaign.

Shaw is now back to full fitness, and Tyrell Malacia is also nearing a return from injury.

During his time at United, Reguilon made 12 appearances across various competitions.

However, Ten Hag now does not want to have a bloated squad, with fewer upcoming games on the cards following their exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
