Wolverhampton Wanderers ended their long wait for a Premier League victory, claiming a first win of the season on their 20th attempt with a convincing display against fellow strugglers West Ham United at Molineux.

The result marked Rob Edwards’ first victory as Wolves head coach and the club’s first league success since the 1–0 win over Leicester City on April 26, 2025.

The emphatic outcome saw the league’s bottom side double their points haul to six, following a dominant first half in which Jhon Arias, Hwang Hee-chan and Mateus Mane all found the net.

West Ham, listless and disjointed, failed to mount any meaningful response after the interval and remain 18th on the table with 14 points, four adrift of Nottingham Forest in the safety zone.

With two of the division’s most porous defences on show, an open contest was expected, and Wolves wasted little time asserting control.

The hosts struck inside four minutes as Hwang surged into the penalty area, skipped past Konstantinos Mavropanos and squared for the unmarked Arias, who finished calmly from close range to open his Wolves account.

That early goal lifted the home crowd and Wolves’ confidence, and they were rewarded with a penalty when Mane was caught by Soungoutou Magassa’s high boot.

Hwang converted emphatically from the spot in the 31st minute to double the lead, before Mane made it 3–0 just 10 minutes later.

Given space on the edge of the area, the 18-year-old unleashed a fierce low drive that beat Alphonse Areola at his near post, sealing his first senior goal in commanding fashion.

The second half proved more balanced, but the damage had already been done, with West Ham unable to recover as their winless run stretched to nine matches.
