Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has told forward Amad Diallo that he is not ready to play for the club’s first team this season.
Ferdinand believes Diallo is nowhere close to cementing a place for himself in the Red Devils’ squad.
Diallo has three years left on his current contract at Old Trafford.
He joined Man United from Atalanta in a deal worth up to £33.7 million back in 2021.
The Ivory Coast international was sent out on a six-month loan spell to Rangers last season, where he scored three goals in 13 matches across all competitions.
Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, Ferdinand believes Diallo should be loaned out again.
The former England international said: “Unfortunately, he just isn’t ready. He just is not ready. He went to the Rangers but could not really get into the team and affect their team, which tells you he is not near getting into the Manchester United team. Do you know what I mean?
“If he would have gone to Rangers and smashed it at Rangers, then he would have had a chance. But because he did nothing, he is going to be a little bit off it and he is someone we will look to loan out, I would say.”
