Reigning African long jump record holder (7.17m), Ese Brume is delighted to win her fifth Nigerian Athletics Championships long jump title.

The 26 year old jumped 6.89m, the second longest winning mark in the history of the championships to seal her fifth win after winning in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021.

The reigning African Games champion is also thrilled to seal a third trip to the World Athletics Championships next month in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

“Another national title, made it to the World Athletics Championships. Glory be to God,’ wrote the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion on her instagram page.

Brume will be seeking another return to the podium after winning the bronze medal three years ago in Doha, Qatar.

The Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist made her World Athletics Championships debut in 2017.

Brume will be seeking to become the first Nigerian to win medals at two consecutive World Athletics Championships.

She is only the second Nigerian athlete after Glory Alozie to win medals at the World Athletics Championships indoors and out, the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.
