Falconets Gear Up for Round of 16 Clash with Japan in Bogota

The Nigerian Falconets are back in Bogota for their Round of 16 clash against Japan at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup. Japan, a strong contender, topped Group E, which also included Austria, New Zealand, and Ghana. Ghana was eliminated after losses to Japan and Austria, and a narrow win over New Zealand.

The Falconets advanced to the knockout stage with a 1-0 win over Korea Republic, a 1-3 loss to Germany, and a decisive 4-0 victory over Venezuela.

Coach Chris Musa Danjuma expressed his pride in the team’s progress and excitement for the upcoming match. “The girls have worked hard to reach this stage. We are focused on taking it one match at a time and are eager to face Japan,” Danjuma said.

The match between Nigeria and Japan will take place at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, where the Falconets previously played against Korea Republic and Germany. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 am Nigeria time (8 pm Thursday in Colombia) on Friday, September 13.
