Favour Ofili still training with LSU head coach ahead of 2024 Olympics

Favour Ofili may have opted to forgo her chance to return for another season with Louisiana State University despite earning an undergraduate degree but the 20 year old Nigerian is still training with her school head coach, Dennis Shaver as she prepares to make her debut at the Olympics next year in Paris, France.

Ofili who graduated with a bachelor’s degree last Friday, according to the LSU, is ‘one of the best athletes to ever walk on campus and represent the purple and gold.

The Nigerian, according to the University has, despite opting to turn professional and sign with sportswear giants, adidas, is training with Coach Shaver as a part of the Tiger Olympians group in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Shaver turned the pretty Ofili from an emerging talent to a world class sprinter who now holds the Nigerian record in the 200m indoors and out as well as the Nigerian outdoor record over the half lap.

She is also the fastest African ever indoors in the 200m in the three years she spent training under Shavers.

Ofili, who will be 21 at the end of this year finished her LSU career a 13-time USTFCCCA First Team All-American.

The six-time SEC Champion also holds both indoor and outdoor 200m records for LSU. Her outdoor time of 21.96 seconds that she recorded in 2022 was the collegiate record for two months before being broken.

The LSU record for indoors comes in at a time of 22.18 seconds, which she recorded this past season at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Ofili also holds eight other top-10 times in LSU history (60, 100, 400, 4×100, 4×400).
