The Super Eagles booked their spot in the CAF playoff final for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a thrilling 4-1 extra-time victory over Gabon at Stade Mohammed V, Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, November 13.
Akor Adams put Nigeria ahead in the 78th minute, capitalising on an unforced error and rounding the Gabonese goalkeeper to score. Gabon’s Mario Lemina equalized in the 86th minute with a deflected strike, sending the match into extra time at 1-1.

In the additional 30 minutes, Victor Osimhen struck twice (102nd and 110th minutes), while substitute Chidera Ejuke also scored in the 97th minute, giving Nigeria a commanding lead and sealing the victory.
The Super Eagles will now face either Cameroon or DR Congo in Sunday’s CAF playoff final, with a place in the March intercontinental play-offs at stake.
