Nottingham Forest are confident that they can beat Tottenham Hotspur in the race for goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Henderson is in the midst of a season-long loan deal at Forest from Manchester United, and he has impressed during his time in the East Midlands.

The 26-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions for Forest this term, keeping six clean sheets.

Henderson has been sidelined since January, which forced the Reds to delve into the transfer market and pick up Keylor Navas on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season.

Forest boss Steve Cooper is keen to make Henderson’s loan move a permanent one when the transfer window opens this summer.

According to Football Insider, Forest are hopeful that they can fight off competition from Tottenham, who are considering a move.

Tottennham’s first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and his deputy Fraser Forster have both entered the final 18 months of their contracts.

Spurs are reportedly willing to sell Lloris in the summer, which could open the door for a potential move for Henderson.

If Forest are to compete with Spurs for Henderson’s signature then they will need to secure their place in the top flight.

Having failed to win any of their last six games, Forest are languishing in 16th place just two points above the relegation zone.

Henderson has a contract with Man United until June 2025, but the Red Devils are expected to sanction a sale in the summer.
