The nominees for the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards have been announced, with Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman making the prestigious shortlist for Best Men’s Player.

The former Leicester City and RB Leipzig star, now dazzling for Atalanta in Serie A, has earned his place among football’s elite.

The announcement was made on Thursday via X by the Globe Soccer Awards, which are hosted annually by the Dubai Sports Council.

Lookman’s inclusion in the running is a testament to his exceptional form this season, alongside footballing icons like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland.

This year’s nominees reflect a blend of established legends and emerging stars from across Europe’s top leagues.

Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer represent the new wave of English talent, while Messi and Ronaldo, both nearing the twilight of their careers, continue to dominate and cement their legacies.

The competition is fierce, with Bundesliga stars like Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, as well as Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, all vying for the coveted award.

Barcelona’s emerging talent, Lamine Yamal, also makes the list, alongside La Liga’s Federico Valverde, Vinícius Júnior, and Alejandro Grimaldo, highlighting Spain’s footballing brilliance.

The Globe Soccer Awards confirmed that the nominees with the highest number of votes will make up the final shortlist, with the winner to be revealed during the 15th edition of the Beyond Development Dubai Globe Soccer Awards on December 27.

This will take place alongside the 19th Dubai International Sports Conference, in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.
