Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has commended Ademola Lookman for his strong defensive contributions in the club’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
La Dea faced challenges against the Gunners, who delivered a solid defensive performance.
Notably, Mateo Retegui had a penalty saved by David Raya early in the second half, adding to the frustration for Atalanta.
Atalanta proved their desire to win the game with an attacking display.
Gasperini however said the defensive work done by Lookman and the other attackers was admirable.
“Well yes, that is our spirit. That doesn’t mean we are not defending, as the defensive work done by Lookman, De Ketelaere and Retegui was admirable,” Gasperini said after the game.
“If we have our strikers working so hard to help the defence, then we can put a few more forwards on the field and improve our chances of scoring.”
