Global IT Meltdown Paralyzes Banks, Emergency Services, Airports, and Media Worldwide

A global IT outage has caused disruptions across banks, emergency services, airports, and media outlets, impacting operations worldwide.

 Airlines in Singapore, the United States, and Australia have experienced significant disruptions due to the cyber outage, which began early Friday.

Reports indicate that numerous airports and airlines have encountered IT system issues as the outages have spread.

In the UK, Govia Thameslink Railway’s operations under Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express, and Great Northern have been severely affected by widespread IT failures.

Australia’s Telstra Group, a major telecommunications company, has also reported disruptions. In the UK, Sky News briefly went off air due to the widespread outages, leaving viewers temporarily without access to its broadcasts.

Sydney airport has grounded flights, United Airlines has halted operations, and the London Stock Exchange Group has reported interruptions on its platform.

Germany’s Berlin airport also reported IT system issues, attributing delays in check-ins to technical faults.

Rail transportation in the UK has been impacted, with Govia Thameslink Railway citing delays across its network due to widespread IT issues.

Telstra Group in Australia acknowledged service disruptions on its X account, attributing them to global issues affecting CrowdStrike and Microsoft.

Microsoft confirmed that a configuration change in its Azure backend caused connectivity failures affecting Microsoft 365 services such as PowerBI, Microsoft Teams, and others.

Efforts are underway to mitigate the impact and restore normal operations across the affected services and platforms.
