Guinea-Bissau say beating the Super Eagles will be one of the positive take homes of their AFCON participation in this edition. G/Bissau who are currently at the bottom of the group A ladder with no point to show for their two matches played so far, believe victory against Eagles will be at least something to brag about.
Nigeria will play their last TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Group A match against Guinea Bissau on Monday, 22 January with the aim of securing nothing less than a victory. They will be hoping to replicate their 1-0 win over the super Eagles in Abuja during the qualifiers.
“Indeed we are going to base ourselves on this match. We have analysed the game of the Super Eagles well, we hope to make a success of our exit in the absence of having had a good tournament,” Baciro Condé said ahead of the game.
Defeated 2-0 by Cote d’Ivoire in the opening match and 4-2 by Equatorial Guinea in their second, the Djurtus will take their last lap of honour against Nigeria with the hope of causing an upset.

The Eagles on their part will be hoping to avoid the same scenario during the qualifiers against Guinea Bissau.
“What matters is the present. We focus on the present and the future. We have confidence in ourselves. We are aiming for first place which is also occupied by Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire, it is up to us to remain vigilant,” José Peseiro explained.
Defender Kenneth Omeruo, stated their mission in Côte D’Ivoire is to win the trophy and nothing else.
“Our objective is clear. Bring the cup home. It’s been a while since we added a trophy to our cabinet which is not acceptable when you’re wearing the green shirt. I will not say that our defeat against them was accidental, but it does not reflect the spirit which reigns in our camp today. We are hungry for victory, it’s up to us to put everything in place to achieve our ambitions.”
