The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, has revealed that he took a pay cut for his new role after being dismissed by Nigeria.
While coaching the Super Eagles, Rohr was reportedly earning $45,000 per month.
However, it is believed that his current salary with the Cheetahs is around $25,000.
Rohr emphasized that his decision to take on the Benin job was driven by passion, not financial gain.

He explained, “I was fortunate to have enjoyed a long career of over fifty years in professional football. I didn’t come here for the money. I accepted half of the salary I earned in Nigeria. If money had been my main motivation, I wouldn’t have taken the job.”
He added, “I came for the adventure, for a meaningful project, and to work in a welcoming country that I had already appreciated when I visited to play there.”
