The 1997 African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, has announced that the 2024 Victor Ikpeba 5-A-Side soccer tournament will be dedicated to the late veteran journalist, Dapo Sotunumi, who passed away suddenly last week.
Ikpeba, who aims to give back to society through sports, described late Dapo as a good man who encouraged him to organize the tournament. “Dedicating this event to him is a way to appreciate his support and contributions,” Ikpeba said.
“It’s painful that we had discussed bigger plans for this event, and suddenly he’s no longer with us,” Ikpeba added. “He worked tirelessly for this brand, and I’m honored to dedicate this year’s Under-20 Victor Ikpeba 5-A-Side tournament to his memory.”
The 4th edition of the Ikpeba 5-A-Side tournament is scheduled to take place from December 17th to 21st at the De Cloud Arena, located after Osubi airport, close to Warri, Delta State.

The tournament will feature cash prizes for the top three winners:
- 1st prize: ₦350,000.00
