‘I want Champions League final’, Napoli President tells Garcia

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has urged the new coach Rudi Garcia to reach the Champions League final next season.

ADL set out the target at Garcia’s presentation on Monday.

He said, “The Scudetto was an initiatory event, I hope. We finally made it but I hope it’s not a chance but the beginning of a journey that a city like Naples deserves. The goal is to try to repeat ourselves. I hope to reach the Champions League final, I’d put my signature on it.”

On Garcia, he continued: “It wasn’t a very long casting, I gave this to you. I dedicated myself to organizing the Scudetto party for three weeks, we prepared the lineup with the authors and we had to produce everything ourselves. The party started with Napoli-Fiorentina wasn’t enough. On the 5th I started thinking about the new coach. It all lasted 11 days and I started selecting who would play successfully with the 4-3-3.

“I had to find a coach who could strike with this form. I saw that Rudi had finished second twice in Serie A and I understood that this gentleman was right for us.”
