Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal has clarified that he has never discussed with Lionel Messi the viral picture depicting Messi bathing him when he was a toddler.
The photos resurfaced as Yamal gained attention for his performances with La Roja at Euro 2024.
Addressing the matter in an interview with Jijantes FC, Yamal stated, “I have never spoken to Messi about the photo where he was bathing me. At the time of the photo with Messi, I was not aware, obviously. My father had it saved, and we never brought it to light primarily due to concerns about comparisons, which are never beneficial.”

Both players emerged through Barcelona’s ranks, leading to inevitable comparisons between them. However, the 17-year-old acknowledged the vast gap between himself and the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
“No one enjoys being compared to the greatest player in history. Those comparisons will persist, but I know I can never achieve what he has accomplished,” Yamal concluded.
