Jobi Sports Football Academy showed class, grit and tenacity as they outwitted Heartland U19 1-0 in a hard fought pulsating duel in the ongoing Game -On Afrika Tournament (G.O.A.T) 2025 sponsored by Afreximbank in conjunction with some good spirited UK -based Nigerians.
The Amaimo Owerri based outfit made their intentions clear from the blast of the referee’s whistle, high pressing down their opponents and living them no room to operate, their tactical superiority and approach in the game eventually paid off late on in the 82nd minute through George Chimike’s curling effort which proved good enough to seal first victory for Jobi in the match played at the Central School Field Avu, Owerri West in Imo state.

Jobi, which had earlier lost their opening encounter in the tournament by the same odd goal 1-0 to Nze Oluchi Sports Academy on Saturday, fought for every ball and staying tight to their game plan.
The win has now through the battle for qualification in group A open, brightening Jobi’s chances to advance to the next stage of the competition.
Jobi will battle Ave Int’l FC in their next fixture on Saturday October 11 while they will play Akabo FC two days later on Monday, October 13 in their last group match.
Other top teams in the tournament include Kun Khalifat Football Academy, Acquire Football Academy, Limitless Football Academy, Zenith Stars FC and Campos FC which are in group B.
Winner in group A and winner in group B will clash in the finals scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
