JUST IN: Peter Obi emerges NDC presidential candidate for 2027 election

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has ratified Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following his emergence as the party’s sole aspirant.

Obi was formally unveiled as the NDC flag bearer at the party’s special convention held in the Idu area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The motion for the adoption of his candidacy was moved by Victor Umeh and seconded by former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege.

The endorsement paved the way for Obi’s emergence as the party’s standard-bearer ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Earlier, Obi, alongside NDC National Chairman, Seriake Dickson, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, arrived at the convention venue.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate donned his all-black kaftan with a cap to match.

Also, Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate and one of the party’s most influential figures, arrived to a rousing welcome from supporters under the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
