The first Lagos Queens Cup commenced on Wednesday at the Legacy Pitch, featuring four matches that kicked off the 4-day scouting tournament. All games took place at the same venue, allowing scouts from Finland and Sweden to observe Nigeria’s premier women’s talent in one location. The opening day also attracted significant support, with former Super Falcons stars Faith Ikidi-Michael and Aishat Yusuf Aromire present, along with LSFA Chairman Hajji Gafar.

In the day’s opening match, FC Robo Queens triumphed over Dannaz Ladies with a score of 4-0. Esther Onyenezide shone brightly, scoring a remarkable hat-trick to ensure a commanding start for Robo. Mariam Yahaya also found the back of the net during the match.

Ayisat Yusuf FA kicked off the tournament with a 2-0 win against Nakamura FA, with goals from Moses Esther and Olaleye Odunayo marking a perfect beginning for AYFA. In the third match, CATS Ladies narrowly defeated Dreamstar Ladies 1-0, thanks to a crucial goal from Amaka Ibegbu.

With three international scouts in attendance on Day 1, the tournament’s primary goal was clearly evident: to establish direct pathways for players to join professional clubs overseas.
