The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the 2025 Capital City Race scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

In a statement posted on X by the Director of Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola, the government noted that the 10km race—organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in collaboration with the Capital City Race Organisers—will start at the Ikeja Shopping Mall.

Participants will run through Billings Way, Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, Adeniyi Jones, and Oba Akran, before finishing at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church on Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja.

“As a result, several roads, junctions, and intersections along the race route will experience partial closures,” the statement said. “These closures will be opened periodically as the race progresses to ease movement within the area.”

The government added that personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be positioned along the route to manage traffic and ensure the safety of both participants and motorists.

Motorists were advised to plan their routes ahead of time and remain patient, as the temporary restrictions form part of the state’s traffic management strategy for the event.
