Lewis Dunk has been rewarded for his brilliant Brighton form with an England recall.
Gareth Southgate has included the Seagulls skipper in his latest squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia which is due to be announced this Wednesday afternoon.
Centre-back Dunk won his solitary England cap so far back in November 2018 against USA.
But the 31-year-old has played his way back into Southgate’s thoughts with his impressive displays for Brighton.
He has been a near ever-present in Roberto De Zerbi’s eye-catching Seagulls side who have clinched European qualification for the first time in the club’s history.
Dunk has continued to thrive at Brighton under De Zerbi who has described his captain as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Speaking about Dunk yesterday, De Zerbi said: ‘He deserves to play in the national team. It’s not my work to decide the players of the national team but for us it should be a target. I hope he can play in the national team.’
