Madueke may return to Crystal Palace

Date:

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been linked with a return to Crystal Palace, where he started his career.

The England U21 international of Nigerian descent was a player of Crystal Palace for three years, before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2014.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have made the signing of 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise a top priority this summer regardless of the news around his release clause.

The report added that Chelsea are prepared to include either Trevoh Chalobah or Noni Madueke as a makeweight in the proposed deal for Olise in an attempt to bring down his asking price.

The France U21 international signed a new contract with the Eagles last summer, with a complicated release clause of 60 million pounds valid for only Champions League clubs.

Chelsea did not qualify for next season’s Champions League after finishing sixth in the table with 63 points, five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Madueke was instrumental during the run-in, starting nine consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

He registered five goal involvements (2 goals, 3 assists), helping Chelsea secure a spot in next season’s Conference League.

Madueke has a contract with the Blues until June 30, 2030, with a club option to extend for a further year.
