Manchester United interim boss, Ralf Rangnick has explained why Cristiano Ronaldo is not in his squad for their clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
Ronaldo missed that game against Manchester City due to a hip injury, according to Rangnick.
The 37-year-old was left out of the team entirely for the Red Devils’ trip to the Etihad Stadium.
Others missing in United squad are Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw after both tested positive for Covid-19.
Now the German coach said Ronaldo has suffered the injury during Friday’s training session.
“Rapha Varane and Luke Shaw tested positive with Covid unfortunately in midweek,” Rangnick told MUTV.
“Edi [Cavani] trained well in the last three days but, at the end, didn’t feel quite well enough to be able to play.
“And Cristiano had some problems with his hip flexor on Friday and since then he didn’t train.”
