Marcus Rashford was on target for Manchester United who came back from a goal down in the second half to win 2-1 against their bitterst rival, Machester City in the 188th Manchester derby played Saturday at Old Trafford.
With the goal, Rashford became the first Manchester United player to score in seven consecutive appearances (all competitions) since Cristiano Ronaldo first did in April 2008.
The forward said after the game: โIn games like this you have to push through and thankfully I managed to do that. This game obviously is a little bit special, weโre please to have the three points and continue winning at Old Trafford.โ
Manchester United have now won nine consecutive matches in all competitions, their longest run since a run of nine between December and January in 2016-17 under Jose Mourinho.
Rashford achieved this feat on an evening Man City boss Pep Guardiola was having his 500th game of his top-flight managerial career.
The Spaniard has won 379 of his 500 games to date (76%), with this the most wins and best win rate (100+ games) of any manager in Europeโs big-five leagues since his first season in 2008-09.
With the result, the Red Devils move to within one point of Manchester City in the table.
Similarly, Arsenal now know that if theyโre able to win at Tottenham, they will have an eight-point lead.
