Morocco stormed into the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over co-hosts Canada on Saturday, ending the hosts’ impressive campaign in emphatic fashion.
After a goalless first half, Morocco seized control immediately after the restart as Azzedine Ounahi broke the deadlock in the 50th minute with a well-worked free-kick routine. The Atlas Lions continued to absorb Canada’s pressure before Ounahi struck again in the 82nd minute, finishing off a swift counterattack to put the result beyond doubt.

Substitute Soufiane Rahimi completed the rout deep into stoppage time, scoring in the 90+8th minute after being set up by Brahim Diaz to seal a convincing victory for the North Africans.
Canada enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges and created several chances but failed to convert them, with Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou producing key saves to preserve a clean sheet. The defeat brought an end to Canada’s historic World Cup run despite reaching the knockout stage for the first time.
The victory sends Morocco into the quarter-finals, where the Atlas Lions will face the winners of the Round of 16 clash between France and Paraguay as they continue their bid for a first FIFA World Cup title.
