Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique, has claimed that Jose Mourinho contributed to Pep Guardiola leaving the Nou Camp in 2012.
The rivalry between Mourinho and Guardiola reached its biggest heights when they were at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
Guardiola left football for one year after Mourinho ended his run of three LaLiga titles on the bounce.
Pique, who played under Guardiola, told the Gary Neville Overlap podcast: “We were winning everything at the time and I remember that the first time Mourinho came to Camp Nou he lost 5-0 against us.
“It was a shock of reality that these guys are going hard, but in the press conferences every time he was, you know his style, and I think that for Guardiola at some point it was too much.
“Madrid won the league that year and all of a sudden he decided to leave for so many reasons, but I am sure part of it was because with Mourinho it got too much.”
City is currently at Manchester City, where he has won his fourth league title in five years.
Mourinho will lead Roma to the final of the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday in his first season.
