Portugal coach Fernando Santos was delighted with Manchester United striker Crsitiano Ronaldoโs performance in victory over Switzerland.
The five-time Ballon dโOr winner scored two goals in the match. Ronaldo started on the bench against Spain and he bounced back from that disappointment to score a brace.
Santosโ decision to drop Ronaldo from the starting line up for Portugalโs match against Spain was controversial. It was naturally a talking point after the fixture, but the 62-year-old was quick to praise the forward for his reaction and his two goals on Sunday night.
โThe captain [Ronaldo] is the best in the world. He arrives,โ Santos said at his press conference.
โWhen you say heโs the best in the world, how many more words are needed? Iโve said this I donโt know how many times.
โThese exhibits are nothing out of the ordinary. Support from fans? Heโs captain of the team, heโs the ultimate example.โ
