NASARAWA DEPUTY GOVERNOR ATTENDS EMIR OF KEFFI BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, has commended the Emir of Keffi, His Royal Highness, Dr. Shehu Yamusa 111, for his roles towards sports development in the State.

Represented at the Emir of Keffi Badminton Tournament by the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, the number two citizen stated that the initiative was not only laudable but would enhance the physical and mental health of the participants hence ensuring better productivity.

Dr. Akabe noted that the Emir was one of the few revered traditional rulers in the State contributing immensely towards the growth and development of sports, an act he said would not be viewed with levity by the State Government.

He mentioned the Emir of Lafia, HRH. Rtd. Justice Sidi Bage, and Andoma of Doma, Alh. Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah, as few of the royal fathers who have continued to use their revered thrones to both organize and galvanise support for sporting activities in the State.

The Deputy Governor, while disclosing that the Sule-led administration was working assiduously to accord equal attention to all sporting activities with the aim of wooing investors, used the occasion to call on other well-spirited individuals and stakeholders in the State to tow the path of the royal fathers in order to join forces with the Government to engage youth of the State in meaningful ventures.

The Emir of Keffi Badminton Tournament is being held at Antau Badminton Club, Keffi, in collaboration with the Association of Badminton Club of Nigeria, featuring Singles (Senior Boys), Doubles (Senior Girls), and Veterans’ Events(Men’s Doubles, from age 25-49) and Mixed Doubles(50 years and above).

Climax of the event that commenced on Monday, 21st June, 2022, is Saturday, 25th June.
