NFF president, Gusau thumbs up Flamingos despite defeat to Colombia

Date:

President, Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, has lauded the Flamingos despite the team’s defeat to Colombia on Wednesday.

The country’s U-17 women’s side failed to reach the final at the ongoing World Cup in India after a 6-5 penalty shootout defeat to the South Americans.

The semi-final encounter ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The Flamingos put up a spirited display in the game and were a kick away from sealing a place in the final.

Gusau, who was in attendance in Goa to offer support to the girls, took to social media to celebrate the team.

“Amazing performance by the girls and I’m very proud of them despite the outcome of the match. Their development and welfare remains a priority to us. Well done girls👏 #SoarFlamingos,” Gusau wrote on his Twitter handle.

The Flamingos will now take on Germany in the third-place match on Friday.
