Nigeria vs. Colombia: Gusau boosts Flamingos with 3,000 dollars

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has charged the Flamingos to target the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title as a befitting welcome gift following his emergence as the helmsman of the football house.

Gusau said he travelled to India to boost their morale and deliver the good wishes of Nigerians to them and that the Flamingos should remain focused and resolute in their determination to win the title for the first time for Africa.

He lifted the players and officials of the Flamingos with additional 3000 dollars which is about 1.3 million naira for their victory over the United States.

“I am appreciative of your feat and Nigerians are really happy with you. As you were aware, we were elected while you people were in Turkey and we came on board about 26 days ago,” Gusau stated.

“The best gift you can do for me is to welcome me with this trophy. That is why I felt it is important for me to leave everything to be here with you.”

The NFF boss also vowed to deliver on his electoral promise of ensuring that the welfare of the players, coaches and their accompanied staff become his priority.

Gusau also promised to ensure the Nigeria Women’s Football League becomes more viable and financially rewarding.

“One of the cardinal promises I made to Nigerians is to make sure I take care of the welfare of the players, coaches and their supporting staff. We are going to revamp the league as well. Those of you who have not been playing in the league, by the time you go back home, I will do everything to ensure you get all your rights as much as the league is concerned.

“The last time you won your game against Chile when the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi was with you I sent you people 3,000 dollars and for the last game you won against the United States, I will give you another 3,000 dollars.”

Flamingos that defeated the United States on penalties in the quarter final to qualify for the semi-final for the first time will trade tackles with Colombia today for a place in the final.
