Nilayo Sports Ltd to sponsor 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball tourney in Abeokuta

Nigeria’s foremost Sports marketing company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited has disclosed its plan to host the first edition of the 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Mr. Seyi Johnson, said yesterday in Lagos that, the company has opted to host the championship, the first in eight years, from June 22nd to 23rd, 2023 in a bid to bring life back to the Federation and give a sense of belonging to the players across the country, who had been inactive for a number of years.

In the words of the new federation president, Seyi Johnson, there is the urgent need to return the players who were the best in the continent of Africa and a shining light at the World level, at both the men’s and women’s categories, before the long inactivity, back to competitions and put a end to the forced holidays which they had been subjected to over the years.

“I am very happy seeing the federation returned to what it used to be in the last eight years and most delighted that, the former Federation president, when the sport was at it highest point in the continent and indeed at the world stage, Chief Bukola Olopade, the Group Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, is championing the rebirth of Wheelchair Basketball sport in Nigeria.

“We are making a passionate appeal to corporate Nigeria, to join force with the federation in the urgent bid to bring back Wheelchair Basketball in Nigeria,” the federation president, Seyi Johnson said.
