NNL docks Yobe Desert Stars three points, N3m fine over referee attack

Yobe Desert Stars will forfeit three points and three goals from their accrued points in Group A4 of the Northern Conference of the Nigeria National League.

The penalty is for assaults on match officials during their matchday five encounter with DMD Football Club of Borno at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu last Sunday.

The match official from Kano State, Shaarani Guza, lost his teeth after he was assaulted by irate fans of the club.

The NNL also fined Yobe Desert N3 million for assault and fans encroachment which disrupted the match.

Yobe Desert will play the remaining three matches behind closed doors, with their supporters placed on a one-year ban from all activities.
