NPFL: Akwa United target Osho to replace Ayeni as head coach

Former Rivers United assistant coach Fatai Osho is now top choice to replace departing Deji Ayeni at Akwa United.

The Uyo-based side have parted ways with their erstwhile handler, Ayeni, following the expiration of his contract.

Ayeni took charge of Akwa United mid-way through the 2021/22 season following the resignation of Kennedy Boboye.

The Promise Keepers missed out on a place in the Nigeria Premier League Super Six playoffs and also suffered an early exit from the Federation Cup.

The management of the club are now looking for a new gaffer to tinker the team with Osho their preferred choice.

Osho, who is one of the upcoming coaches on the domestic scene, has managed Remo Stars and Enyimba in the past.

He is expected to pen a contract with Akwa United before the commencement of the new season.
