After watching his wards take to the lush-green newly constructed, Awka City stadium, Thursday, technical adviser of Rangers International F.C, Coach Abdul Maikaba declared that the team was ready to give a very good account of themselves at the little over two thousand capacity stadium.
The vastly traveled tactician who was in the delegation of the club that inspected the facility, Tuesday, said that despite early challenges in mastering the turf by his players, they later overcame the challenges and expressed themselves very well at the end of the first training session they had at the facility.
“No doubt, I noticed some challenges for my boys initially as we started and this is understandable because, it’s a newly installed pitch, but by the end of the session, I saw perfect understanding and sweet football distribution from my players. This pitch is not only good to display good football artistry but also television-friendly,” stated coach Maikaba.
On the weekend’s fixture against Lobi Stars F.C, coach Maikaba said, “I believe we shall have a good match on Saturday against Lobi coming from the backdrop of the big win we got in Uyo but I hope this road win will not go into the head of my players but go into the pitch and fight for the three points at stake and get us back into contention for the league title.”
Recall that officials of LMC and Rangers International F.C were on the ground last Tuesday to inspect facilities at the new sports edifice located in the capital of Anambra State, Awka for the possible movement of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ home matches to the new stadium and will be hosting the first league match there on Saturday, March 19, 2022, against Lobi Stars F.C of Makurdi with kickoff slated for 16.00 hours.
