NPL: Enyimba still on top despite draw against Bendel Insurance

Enyimba stayed on top of the log in the Nigeria Premier League playoffs after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bendel Insurance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephants have now garnered five points with one win and two draws from three games, while Bendel Insurance have three points from three draws.

The Benin Arsenal extended their unbeaten streak in the NPL to 21 games.

Sadiq Abubakar gave Enyimba the lead in the 23rd minute with a superb curling effort from inside the box.

Insurance fought back and got the equaliser through Divine Nwachukwu eight minutes before the break.

It was Nwachukwu’s second goal of the playoffs.

Enyimba will take on Sunshine Stars in their next game on Friday, while Bendel Insurance will be up against Rivers United on the same day.
