NPL: Rivers United players get N5m cash reward after win against Insurance

Former Commissioner for sports in Rivers State, Christopher Green has rewarded players of Rivers United with N5m for their victory over Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League Championship Playoffs.

Green had promised to reward the team while addressing them before the game.

Goals from Morice Chukwu and Joseph Onoja ensured the Pride of Rivers beat the Benin Arsenal to end their 21-unbeaten run in the league.

The Pride of Rivers currently occupy second position on the table with eight points from four games.

Stanley Eguma’s side need to beat the People’s Elephant to successfully defend their title.

The encounter will hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Sunday.
