Super 6 Final Showdown: Delta, Bayelsa Steal Show

Date:

*meet Sunday for ultimate decider

What a contrasting fortunes football fans witnessed yesterday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba in the battle for places in tomorrow’s final day of the week long female football league.

It may not have been the best of encounters, but, since sports is about victories, Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens just nicked it for the final showdown.

Bayelsa must avoid defeat or even drawing to keep hope alive. The girls from Yenegoa did the needful by stealing the show with a solitary penalty goal to advance.

Favourites, Delta Queens against all expectations struggled to hold back the bombings of Edo Queens to stay on course. The pride of Delta needed a draw but could have been out of contention had they lost by two unreplied goals.

But, like analysts posited after the matches, there is always the unforseen in football.

Which is why Edo that was awful in their game against Confluence Queens loosing one nil could spring surprises against Delta that walloped the girls from Lokoja 3-1.

For fans that are yet to watch any of these matches Sunday offers another opportunity to come enjoy yourselves for free as this year’s season female football winds down.
