NWFL Premiership : NWFL will sanction Clubs found wanting in Match Fixing ; Falode

Date:

The Chairperson of Nigeria Women Football League Aisha Falode has stated that her league board will not show mercy to any time found guilty in the business of match fixing in the ongoig Women Championship.

“We want to protect the integrity of The NWFL Premiership, We want people to have confidence, trust in the league and most importantly a league that the results are not doctored ” these were the words of the Chairperson of the NWFL Ms Aisha Falode while speaking live during the Lunch Sports show on Sports Radio Brilla FM recently.

Falode went on to emphasis the tough stance of the NWFL as the race for the Super 6 gets tougher.

” Our eyes are on every game , we have appointed Independent match assessors for every game. People are quick to condemn the referees but it takes two to tango” She went further to enlighten the media why certain decisions are taken.

“Winning is desirable but Winning at all cost is not, it rubbishes the game into disrepute, we must protect the league.
We had sanctioned referees in the past and blacklisted some referees from our league in the past “.

Falode congratulated the Chairman of the referees appointment Committee popularly known as Ahlan for his cooperation and desire to see a refined system.

“We changed appointment some weeks back in Abuja and Lokoja before the kick off of the games.
We had enough evidence that one team was not only trying to compromise their result but also wanting to influence the result of another team in another venue.
We have investigated with the facts we have and would not hesitate to clamp down on any desperate win at all cost club”.

The NWFL Chairperson also calmed the women football loving supporters by letting them know that the NWFL does not act on the spur of the moment but have done her homework backed with evidence which glaringly points to match fixing.

The Race for the Super 6 gets more tense as the league defending champions Rivers Angels were spanked in Port Harcourt by 1 goals to 3 by a newbie in the terrain Royal Queens of Warri.

The NWFL Premiership has only two more matches to conclude as the battle for who the league champion and the CAF Champions league representative starts soonest in the Super 6.
