The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.

The scheme announced the suspension in a notice posted on its official X handle on Sunday, attributing the decision to ongoing renovation work at the state orientation camp.

According to the NYSC, the development affects all prospective corps members (PCMs) posted to Niger State for the exercise.

The scheme stated that the orientation programme could not proceed as scheduled due to the rehabilitation work currently underway at the camp facility.

NYSC assured affected corps members that fresh arrangements would be communicated in due course, including details of where and when they are expected to report for the orientation exercise.

It urged prospective corps members to remain patient and await further directives from the management.

“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at short notice on where and when to report for their orientation course,” the statement added.

The management also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to affected corps members and their parents.

The suspension comes amid ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities at the camp.

Earlier in 2026, a severe windstorm damaged parts of the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, including male hostels, the multipurpose hall, kitchen, and staff quarters.

Following the incident, Governor Mohammed Bago directed immediate repairs to the facility.

Similar postponements due to renovation have also been recorded in states such as Enugu and Osun earlier in the year.

The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise officially began on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and was scheduled to run nationwide until Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
