Ogun Amotekun arrests two suspected cultists, recovers gun

Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have arrested two suspected cultists said to be responsible for a series of attacks in Ipokia, Ipokia Local Government Area, over the past two months.

The suspects — 23-year-old Rafiu Saheed and 22-year-old Raji Selim — were apprehended with a fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, an axe and a red, unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.

Deputy Corps Commander Col. Tunde Bakare (rtd.) disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday. He said the operation followed credible intelligence and weeks of sustained surveillance on the gang’s movement.

Bakare added that a third suspect, identified as Idowu Ganiu and believed to be about 25, escaped during the raid and is currently being trailed by operatives.

The two aforementioned suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, at about 11pm in the Owotedo area of Ajegunle Idirorko in Ipokia Local Government area of Ogun State.

“The three suspects were intercepted while they were riding on an unregistered Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle along Ipokia Idiroko en route to Ajegunle Idiroko for their Criminal mission. As Rafiu Saheed ‘m’ and Raji Selim ‘m’ were arrested, Idowu Ganiu ‘m’ is still at large.

“However, when the suspects were intercepted, they were searched, and the following exhibits were recovered in their possession: a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridge, axe and an unregistered Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle Red Colour.

Bakare said that the suspects had been transferred to SCID Eleweran Abeokuta for investigation and prosecution, along with the exhibits.

He urged members of the public to be more security-conscious and ensure that they relay useful information to the appropriate security quarters for swift response.
