Former Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, and former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, have urged Nigerians to back the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They spoke in Abuja at the unveiling of the Legacy Support Group for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope for a Better Nigeria.”

Okiro, a former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, represented by Hon. Marcel Ezenwa, praised Tinubu’s efforts to reshape the national narrative and create a conducive environment for economic growth and development. He warned that unfounded criticism of the government would hinder progress.

“We are all here as witnesses. Many people are acknowledging the work being done. That is why we have decided to join hands in support of the moving train,” Okiro said. “This is the message we want to send to Nigerians: let the President continue the good work he has started.”

Ebute, represented by Prince Henry Opara, CEO of Hans Royal Homes Limited, said his support through the legacy group and other platforms was aimed at enabling the President to complete his eight-year tenure.

“He has a good mind for Nigeria, and we have seen his efforts. Rome was not built in a day, and progress is gradual,” Ebute said, adding that Tinubu’s intentions for the country are sincere.

Ebute, a former Pro-Chancellor of the National Open University, acknowledged the President’s achievements and emphasised his good intentions. “Wherever he stops, another person can continue, but he truly has a good heart for this country,” he said.

Chief Chima Duru, National Coordinator of the Legacy Support Group, described Tinubu’s administration as one that would leave enduring legacies. He highlighted the President’s humility, vision, and commitment to listening to advice as qualities that distinguish him.

“He is a man with ambition, vision, and a human heart. He listens and values advice. What endeared me to him is when he encouraged people to have hope in their lives, saying that whatever God has destined for you will come to pass,” Duru said.

The group vowed to rally support nationwide for Tinubu’s re-election, citing his achievements and commitment to national development as reasons for continued leadership.
