The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals on its wanted list for kidnapping and murder, including a recently released ex-convict.
Among the arrested is 40-year-old Ishaku Abdul, captured at Aladura Camp, Oke-Oge, after a rise in criminal activities in the area following his release.
Other suspects include Aminu, Abdullahi Abubakar, Yusuf Saidu (22), Nafiu Ibrahim (32), Mohammed Anas (20), and Kabiru Mohammed (24).
In addition, two suspects, Adekunle Saheed (48) and Gafaru Adegoke, were arrested for hijacking a petrol tanker intended for Ekiti State.
They allegedly murdered the driver and his assistant before attempting to offload the stolen fuel at a petrol station in Akure.
Gbenga Olanrewaju, also known as “Fish,” a wanted cultist involved in the January 6 killings in Owo, was also paraded. He confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity and is wanted for other crimes across the state.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed that private trackers aided in the successful operation.
He also announced the arrest of 25-year-old Temidayo Fadahunsi in Akure, from whom 228 Android phones, 156 batteries, and 23 foreign SIM cards were recovered.
Afolabi confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
