A former student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Oyelade Habeeb Olawale, was on Tuesday afternoon hacked to death during a rival cult clash on the institution’s campus.
The confrontation began after members of a rival group allegedly took a photograph without permission, sparking an argument that quickly degenerated into violence. Oyelade, said to be a leader of one of the groups, was attacked with axes during the fracas and died from his injuries.
The polytechnic management confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, describing the killing as “unfortunate.” The institution said its security unit responded immediately and arrested several suspects, who have since been handed over to the police.
