Osimhen,  Ebuehi out of Super Eagles friendlies vs Ghana,Mali

Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen and will not partake in Super Eagles double friendly against Ghana and Mali in Marrakech, Morocco it has been revealed.

Osimhen who sat out in  Napoli’s 1-1 draw against Serie A leaders Inter Milan on Sunday is according to caretaker coach Francesco Calzona still battling to recover from inflammation of the scar from an old injury. He is also not on the list of Napoli players released for internaitonal duties thus implying that he will continue his recovery at the Castel Volturno for at least two weeks to regain his full fitness. Also ruled out of the two friendlies is Empoli defender Tyrone Ebuehi. He had sustained injury in Empoli’s 1-0 home defeat to Bologna last Friday.

The 28-year-old started the game on the bench and took the place of Emmanuel Gyasi on 66 minutes. A statement from the club’s website reads “Empoli Football Club announces that the instrumental tests to which the player Tyronne Ebuehi, who came off during Friday’s match against Bologna, underwent, highlighted the partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee,”

“The footballer, after having undergone an initial specialist evaluation to establish the recovery path, began the appropriate treatments with the Azzurri healthcare staff.”

Ebuehi  has made 15 league appearances for Empoli this season.

The Super Eagles will take on Ghana at the Grand de Stade Marrakech on Friday, March 22 and then take on Mali in the battle of Eagles four days later at the same venue.

The friendlies are part of shape up efforts ahead of the world cup qualifiers which resume in June with Eagles billed to take on Bafana Bafana of South Africa and The Cheetahs of Benin Republic respectively.
