Osimhen scores stunning acrobatic for Napoli

Giacomo Raspadori bagged a brace and Victor Osimhen scored an acrobatic effort as Napoli beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in Turkey.

The Premier League side had a good start, testing Alex Meret with Ebere Eze’s volley before Wilfried Zaha’s angled drive opened the scoring.

Moments later, Osimhen drew level with a spectacular effort, flicking the ball in the air over the head of Will Hughes to turn among defenders inside the box until firing in from a tricky angle.

It started raining heavily for the second half, which saw both teams make numerous substitutions.

Mario Rui made a decisive block on Doucoure and a deflected long-range Leo Ostigard effort forced a save, but Raspadori took centre-stage with a powerful strike into the roof of the net and turned in the third on a low Zanoli assist rolled across from the right.

The match played at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Belek in Istanbul saw five players of Nigerian descent made the matchday squad as the Serie A highflying trade tackles with the English Premier League campaigners

While Super Eagles star striker Victor Osimhen star for Napoli, Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira handed starts to NFF targets Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise in a front three that also had Wilfred Zaha. Youngsters Omotayo Adaramola and Malcolm Ebiowei started from the bench.

Adaramola came in for Milivojevic just before Ebere Eze received a yellow card for an awkward tackle.

The Crystal Palace friendly is Napoli’s last official match of 2022 as the Neapolitans begin a three-week break before returning for the second half of the league campaign.

Napoli’s first game of 2023 is a crunch Serie A clash against Inter Milan on January 4th.
