The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that he will defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke decisively in the August 8 governorship election, despite what he described as sustained propaganda by the current administration.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, spoke on Sunday at the APC Youths Reconciliation Summit held at the party secretariat in Osogbo. He said no amount of misinformation would save the incumbent government from defeat at the polls.

He urged party members, particularly youths, to take the campaign directly to the people by countering negative narratives through door-to-door mobilisation, community engagement and street-level advocacy.

“We must return to house-to-house and door-to-door sensitisation ahead of the election and confront every false narrative being pushed by other parties, even on the streets,” Oyebamiji said.

“Our opponents have begun spreading lies to the people of Osun, and you must dismantle those lies. We are taking over in 2026. Do not be afraid. No one will intimidate you,” he added.

Oyebamiji assured party supporters that the forthcoming election would not mirror the 2022 experience, stressing the need for hard work and unity. He said the APC was determined to deliver a youth-focused administration that would prioritise development and inclusion.

The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) underscored the critical role of young people in electoral success, calling on APC youths to take ownership of the campaign and drive the party’s victory.

“Our government will place strong emphasis on youth development to prepare them for leadership and governance responsibilities. There will be special programmes dedicated to empowering young people,” he said.

He cautioned party members against complacency, noting that victory would only come through sustained effort and discipline. “We want power, and we are eager for it, but we must work for it. This election demands total commitment,” Oyebamiji said.

Earlier, the Osun APC Youth Leader, Olagoke Akinwemimo, described Oyebamiji’s emergence as the party’s candidate as a strategic decision that had unsettled the opposition.

He said the APC youth structure in Osun remained formidable and well-organised, adding that since the 2022 election, party youths had remained resilient, active and committed to reclaiming power under the leadership of the APC.
